Basic Smear £99
This is a cervical smear test sent for cytology reporting. This does not include testing for HPV ( Human Papilloma Virus).
This part of the test looks to confirm that there are adequate numbers of the cells to be examined and then looks for any abnormalities in these cells.
Smear + HPV test £125
This test is smear cytology plus testing for the Human Papilloma Virus. This is a more informative type of smear test. There are various types of HPV but types 16 and 18 are clearly linked to cervical cancer.
Repeat Smear test £80
Accurate reporting of a cervical smear depends on adequate numbers of 'transition zone cells' being present in the sample. This cannot be guaranteed and is partly dependant on factors such as a woman's hormonal status at the time of sampling. Reports on occasions are therefore inconclusive and need repeating , usually after 3 months. This time frame allows for hormonal changes which may influence the next sample.
